Friday, 24 September 2021 saw the official opening of 53 North House, attended by Dame Julie Kenny DBE DL.
Although we moved into the building some 22 months ago, the official opening that we had hoped for back in 2020 couldn’t happen because of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
To coincide with the opening, we held an Open Day, bringing all the staff together to help us celebrate this very special occasion.
The beginning of June saw 53 North embark upon a ‘Take on a Charity Challenge’, in an effort to raise money for two local charities, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, and the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust.
Several ideas were batted around before we finally settled on an ‘AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS’ challenge. In essence, this meant that between us, we were to cover 24901 miles in 80 days, which equated to 8.4125 miles per person, per day!
53North Group are pleased to announce that they have been recertificated to ISO 9001:2015 following a thorough auditing process from ACM Ltd.
Director Chris Wragg commented “This recertification shows that the business and our teams are fully committed to the continued delivery of quality work to our customers. Quality is one of our six principles and we strive to ensure our systems provide accuracy, assurance and support to all of our customers. Deborah Bird and Joanne Hunt have done a fantastic job in support me in passing this audit and I know they are continually looking to improve our internal processes.
53North would like to extend a worm welcome to John Rose, our third new starter in as many months. John will become a key member of our project team as a manufacturing specialist, with involvement in criticality analysis, FMECA and RCM processes as well as supporting our focus for food safety within our asset care approach.
I am really pleased to be joining the 53North team and am looking forward to this new challenge and contributing to the team. I bring over 20 years manufacturing experience in the food industry including a wide range of different processes including pasteurisation, agglomeration with packaging experience in glass, pouches, cartons and bulk packaging. I am also experienced in SAP systems.
53North would like to give a warm welcome to James. James is the second of our three new starters to join us. With the onset of digitisation and artificial intelligent based condition monitoring, we recognised that additional analytical resource was needed for our dedicated data analytical centre. James will be key to expanding our data analytical services as well as oil condition monitoring.
53North would like to welcome John Muir to the team. John will work in the project team as a Junior technician, his focus will be supporting some of the key elements of data analysis of machine health data, criticality analysis, FMEA and other asset care systems.
What is Condition based maintenance?
Condition based maintenance (CBM) is an effective way to reduce maintenance costs and improve plant availability because it reduces unnecessary intrusive maintenance and prevents unplanned failures. Sensors are used to measure the operational behaviour of the components within the assets, which are then analysed and interpreted to allow an understanding of the machine health.
